Rosh haNikra is a Jewel...By Simon H.- Rosh haNikra resident

Rosh haNikra is a jewel of a place to live! This depends on your favouring a rural lifesyle - you know, cow pattie ambience mixed with spectacular Mediterranean sunsets. If you like 'em both, then good, 'cause you can't get away from them, like a Hemingway: The Cow and the Sea. Go to sleep with the Med hushing you along and the cows commenting by moo and patty!

Yes, I love this place, it's all I wanted it to be in Israel: laid back, almost everyone understands English - Anglos live here too: Americans, Australians, New Zealanders, Brits, a South African and a Namibian(me!). There are a lot of helpful friendly people around, you'll fall in love with the place.

Interesting sights nearby are the cableway to the grottos, the beach and sea of course, the Achsiv Park, Ghetto Fighters' Memorial, Night of the Bridges Memorial, cow and patties, banana and avocado orchards, the smell of things growing...

A word of warning: work is scarce here and so is housing. Almost 14 months after aliyah I got a job 10km away, but if you are looking for a place to live in semi-retirement I would recommend it.  Check back later, as I will try to get some photos posted.

Are you an English-speaker living, working, or studying in  Shlomi?  Do you have the inside information about what Shlomi is like as a place to live?  Many olim are considering the Nefesh b'Nefesh Go North program, and some of them would probably love living in Shlomi, but may not know much about it.  Please email me  if you would be willing to provide information about Shlomi.  I need any or all of the following:  articles about life in Shlomi, contact information for important Shlomi entities (schools, ulpan, social groups for Anglos, etc.), and photos.
